I should have thought that it could be desirable to fix the date of celebration nearer the date of the centenary, as it is foreseeable that circumstances may be different then. The present personnel may not be the same and the despatch by P.S. to H.M., requesting approval, should be sent before then.
We should say my reply accordingly would be that we cannot accede to the request at present, but it is feasible.
I don't think we can either support the project or return it to the Gov. for postponement. The general outlook is at present so obscure that I think it would be wise to take no action in this case.
